The Bears matched up with the Eagles at Sevier County High School for a double header
on Monday night. Game one was drama filled as it was back and forth the entire game. The
Eagles got the game going with two runs in the first inning with Ethan Goforth’s two-run
homerun. The Bears would answer with two runs of their own in the bottom of the third. Logan
Hayes scored on a double play, and Mark Treadway scored on a single by John Sharpe. The
Eagles would come back with two runs in the top of the fourth to take a 4-2 lead. Ethan Goforth
scored on a wild pitch, and Bryce Hodge scored on an error. The Bears would get one back in
the bottom of the fourth when Mark Treadway singled in Eric Hart to cut the deficit to 4-3. The
Eagles would be held scoreless in the top of the fifth to set up a dramatic ending. John Sharpe
singled to get the Bears going. Then with two outs Christian Nave unloads on one for a two-run
walk off homerun to end game one. Bears take this one 5-4.
Game two wasn’t as dramatic. Bryce Hodge started the game off with a double to drive
in two runs. The Bears were unable to get anything going. In the fourth the Eagles exploded for
ten runs to blow it open to 12-0. A series of walks, hits and errors allowed the Eagles to have
the big inning. The Bears would get three runs back in the fifth but were unable to complete the
comeback as the Eagles take game two 12-3.
The star of game one was Christian Nave. His walk off homerun completed the
comeback for the Bears and ended one of the most dramatic games of the season. The game
two star of the game was Bryce Hodge whose RBI double got the offense going before their ten-
run explosion. The Bears faceoff against the Copperheads at Sevier County.
