Bears Take 2nd Place in Standings

The Bears and Copperheads matched up at Sevier County on Tuesday night. After a
series of double headers due to weather, only one game was played last night. The Bears got
this game going striking early and often. They put up three runs in the bottom of the first.
Charlie Brown scored on a fielder’s choice. Juan landers scored on an error. Logan Hayes would
later double to score Eric Hart. In the top of the fourth the Copperheads would get one back
when Brent Richey doubled home Cade Gilbert to make the score 3-1 Bears. The Bears would
answer with a runoff their own in the bottom of the fourth when Logan Hayes scored on a
groundout by Blake Howard. The Bears would add three more in the bottom of the fifth starting
when John Sharpe scored on a wild pitch. Cody Hutcherson would later drive in Charlie Brown
with a single. Logan Hayes would follow that up with a bloop single to score Jacob Jennings to
make the score 7-1. The Copperheads would answer with five runs in the top of the sixth. Brent
Richey drove in a run with a single to get things going. Cade Gilbert would later score on an
error. Nicholas Bennett would follow that up with an RBI single to make the score 7-4. Seth
Hunt would get in on the fun with a double to score two runs to make the score 7-6 Bears. In
the Bottom of the sixth the Bears would get some breathing room when Gavan Rupe scored on
an error to make the score 8-6. That would be all the Bears would need as they take this one
8-6.
The star of the game was Logan Hayes who went 2 for 3 with two RBI’s. He set the tone
for the Bears’ offense. The Bears matchup with the Cougars on Thursday at Sevier County.
