Eagle Win Again

Thursday night the Bears and Eagles matched up at Jefferson County High School. The
Bears were looking to start a winning trend after they got their first win Tuesday night.
Meanwhile the Eagles were looking to redeem their first loss of the season. In their last
matchup the Eagles defeated the Bears 14-5, but this game would go very differently. The
Eagles got the scoring going in the bottom of the first when Killian Daughtry scored on a single
to right giving the Eagles the 1-0 lead. The Bears would attempt to answer in the top of the
second but that was quickly shut down when Palmer Taylor threw a bullet to home to throw
out Mark Treadway to end the inning. The Bears would eventually tie it up in the third when
Deric Graham scored on a sacrifice fly. The Eagles would have a chance to take the lead in the
bottom of the third when they had the bases loaded with one out, but the Bears would escape
the jam by turning a 5-2-3 double play to end the inning still tied. The Eagles would eventually
take the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Andrews hit a lead-off solo homerun to take the
lead. The Eagles would not look back. Their pitching continued to shut down the Bears offense,
while the Eagles offense added an insurance run on a Bryce Hodge fielder’s choice. The Eagles
would hold on to win 3-1.
Andrews was the star of the game with his homerun giving the Eagles the lead they
needed to defeat the Bears. The Eagles (3-1) next matchup is on Monday against the Cougars
(0-5) at Jefferson County. The Bears (1-3) matchup with the Copperheads (5-0) at Knox Catholic.
