Copperheads Improve to 4-0

The Bears and Cougars matched up at Seymour High School on Tuesday night in a battle
of the winless. With the Bears at 0-2 and the Cougars at 0-3, both teams are desperate for their
first win. The Bears struck first when Charlie Brown drove in Dalton Cornett with a sacrifice fly
in the top of the first. The Cougars would answer in the bottom of the first when Tyler
Thompson scored on a wild pitch tying the game at one. The score would not stay tied for long
after the Bears added on another run with Charlie Brown’s second sacrifice fly of the day giving
the Bears a 2-1 lead. Later that inning, Gavan Rupe would score on a wild pitch to extend the
Bears’ lead to 3-1. The Cougars would be unable to answer in the bottom of the second. Both
offenses went stagnant until the Bears would add on two more sacrifice flies in the sixth to
extend the lead to 5-1. The deficit would prove to be too much for Cougars as the Bears locked
up their first win of the season improving to 1-2. The Cougars fall to 0-4 on the season still
looking for their first win.
The star of the game was the Bears’ Charlie Brown whose two sacrifice flies gave the
Bears the lead and they never looked back. Putting together Good at-bat after good at-bat to
put this one out of reach. The pitching trio of Peyton Green, Logan Hayes, and Ethan Walls shut
down the cougars only allowing the one run giving the pitching staff a case for star of the game
as a whole, but Charlie Brown takes the cake with his two RBI’s.
The Bears (1-2) match up with the Eagles (2-1) at Jefferson County High School on
Thursday. The Cougars (0-4) match up with the undefeated Copperheads (4-0)
