The Bears and the Copperheads matched up on Monday night at Knoxville Catholic High
School. The Bears were looking to continue their winning ways and extend their win streak to
four games, while the Copperheads were looking to end their three-game losing streak. The
game started with two and a half scoreless innings before the Copperheads opened up the
scoring. Richard Jackson reached base on an error to score Nicholas Bennett for the first run of
the game. Later in the inning Seth Hunt singled up the middle to score two runs to extend the
Copperheads’ lead to 3-0. The Bears would answer in the top of the fourth when Eric Hart
grounded out to score Hal Bishop after he tripled to start the inning. IN the bottom of the fifth
the Copperheads would continue their scoring ways when Jerry Hammonds doubled in two
runs to extend their lead to 5-1. The Bears would try to mount a comeback when Charlie Brown
reached on an error to score Juan Landers to trim the deficit to 5-2. Later in the inning John
Sharpe grounded out to score Mark Treadway to make the score 5-3. That would be all the
Bears could muster. The Copperheads would add three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to
bust the game wide open. The Bears were unable to make a comeback as the Copperheads take
this one 8-3.
