3 In a Row For the Bears

The Eagles and Bears matched up at Sevier County High School on Thursday night. The
Bears were looking to keep up their winning ways and the Eagles were looking to continue their
dominance over the Bears. Pitching and defense was the story of this game until the fifth
inning. Neither team scored until the fifth. Both teams had many opportunities but were unable
to capitalize. The Eagles got the scoring going when Ethan Goforth Grounded out to score a run
to put the Eagles ahead. The Bears quickly answered when John Sharpe drew a bases loaded
walk to score Gavan Rupe. Jacob Jennings would later clear the bases with a single off of the
wall to make the Score 4-1 Bears. In the top of the sixth the Eagles would work their way back.
Jacob Rogers grounded out to score Tucker Cain. Later in the inning Malik Kyle scored on a
dropped third strike to make the score 4-3 Bears. The Bears would bounce back in the bottom
half of the inning when Deric Graham hit a single to score two runs. Christian Nave would later
ground into a fielder’s choice to score Gavan Rupe. The Bears would two more runs on a
ground out by Eric Hart and a double by John Sharpe to make the score 9-3 Bears. The Eagles
would add another run in the top of the seventh but would be unable to make the comeback as
the Bears take this one 9-4.
The Bears’ Jacob Jennings was the star of the game going 2 for 3 with three RBI’s. His
run production gave the Bears the lead and they never looked back from there. The Bears (4-3)
match up with the Copperheads (5-3) at Knoxville Catholic High School on Monday. The Eagles
(4-3) match up with the Cougars (2-6) at Seymour High School.
