Bears Win Again

The Bears and Cougars matched up on Tuesday night at Seymour High School. Both
teams are coming off big victories. The Bears were looking to get back to .500 while the Cougars
were looking to start a winning trend. The Cougars got the game going when Michael Robinson
singled in Lofton Cotton to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead. The Bears would quickly answer in the
top of the second when John Sharpe scored on a throwing error to tie the game. In the third
inning the Bears would add two more runs. Charlie Brown hit a single to left to score Deric
Graham, and Eric Hart singled up the middle to drive in Hal Bishop. In the fourth the Cougars
would add a run to make it a one run deficit when Zeke LeComte singled in Michael Robinson.
In the fifth the Bears would get that run right back when Charlie Brown hit a sacrifice fly to
drive in Hal Bishop to make the score 4-2 Bears. The Cougars would come roaring back in the
sixth. Michael Robinson hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Tyler Thompson to make the score 4-3.
Luke Shepard would hit a bloop single to right to score two runs giving the Cougars the 5-4 lead.
In the top of the seventh Cody Hutcherson hit a solo homerun to tie the game at five. Later in
the inning Hal Bishop hit a sacrifice fly to give the bears the lead 6-5. Gavan Rupe would add an
insurance run with another sacrifice fly to give the bears a 7-5 lead. The Cougars would be
unable to mount another come back in the seventh as the Bears squeak past the Cougars.
The Bears Hal Bishop was the star of the game going 1 for 2 with a walk and a hit by
pitch. He also had an RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases. His ability to get on base was what
gave the Bears the opportunities to pull off the comeback win. The Bears (3-3) matchup against
the Eagles (4-2) on Thursday night at Sevier County High School. The Cougars (1-6) matchup
against the Copperheads (5-2) at Knox Catholic.
